GUIDELINES


 

OBJECTIVE: 

The Hospitality Committee/Scholarship Fund of the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights was established to assist high school graduates with their college tuition.


 

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Must be a high school senior graduating in June or August of the current year 

  2. Must have applied or been accepted as a full-time student (12 credits) in an accredited college, university, vocational school, technical school or hospital school of nursing.  

  3. United States citizen or Permanent resident (Must submit copy of green card.)

  4. Must reside in tri-state area (NY, CT, or NJ)

     

               DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATION IS MARCH 31, 2023


 

AWARD: 

The Hospitality Committee/Scholarship Fund of the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights will grant these awards to successful applicants in two installments.

Upon receipt of requested information, checks will be mailed to an address designated by the recipient. 


 

SELECTION PROCESS:

A Panel of church and community representatives will conduct the selection process. 

The criteria for selecting the successful students will be based on:

  1. Academic achievements 

  2. Autobiography

  3. Letters of recommendation (MUST BE SIGNED BY WRITER)

  4. Interview by the scholarship panel is mandatory:  Saturday April 29th, 2023

  5. Recipient must attend Graduation Ceremony on JUNE 11, 2023 if you are granted an award or the award will be forfeited

The application package must include the following:

 

  • Completed Application.

 

  • Official High School Transcript 

       (THROUGH  FALL SEMESTER OF 12th GRADE)

 

  •  Three (3) Letters of Recommendation. (MUST BE SIGNED BY WRITER)

The letters may be from your principal, teacher, school counselor, Pastor                                                                                                                   or community organization supervisor. 

                                                                                          

  • Autobiography – 400-500 words; typewritten, double-spaced.

      Your autobiography should include your projection plans,    

     (career/education) 5 – 10 years from now. 

      Be candid and as specific as possible.

 

  • Recent snapshot of applicant. (picture will not be returned)

 

  • Copy of all acceptance letters from colleges and universities you applied to.
     

  • SAT/OR / ACT SCORES FROM OFFICIAL WEBSITE
