The First Baptist Church was founded on April 30, 1953 for the purpose of proclaiming a gospel message relevant to man’s need in a changing society. We preach a risen Christ who works toward the liberation of men from all forms of oppression whether it be spiritual, social, political or economic.
The mission of the First Baptist Church is to make disciples for Jesus Christ by carrying out the great commandment, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:37, 39).
And the Great Commission, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to obey all these things I have commanded you: And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (St. Matthew 28:19-20).
